Displaying Chicago Style in Copenhagen

When the First Lady leads the Chicago delegation to Copenhagen to pitch Chicago for the 2016 Olympics, they will be dressed to showcase the style side of Chicago. The chosen designer for the ladies is Maria Pinto.

Local designers have pitched in to create his and hers outfits for First Lady Michelle Obama, Mayor Daley and the rest of Chicago's Olympic backers as they make a final bid for the 2016 Games.

The ladies, including Michelle Obama, businesswoman Penny Pritzker and presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett, will be sporting a yet-to-be disclosed outfit by Chicago-based designer Maria Pinto. The gentlemen will be sporting gray slacks and blue blazers made by Hart Schaffner Marx, the Chicago-based suit manufacturer that outfits President Obama.

In August of 2008, Maria Pinto opened the doors to her first boutique, a natural extension of her atelier, located in Chicago’s West Loop. Pinto’s collections are known for well-edited luxury; each garment incorporates innovative materials and sophisticated tailoring from beginning to end. This attention to detail is reflected in the environment of the retail space from the moment a client walks through the door.

Maria Pinto’s collections have been featured in major fashion publications, including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle.
