President Obama is back in Phoenix after touring the Grand Canyon National Park with his family.
The president's Grand Canyon visit on Sunday was a private affair with no public events. He plans a speech at the annual Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Phoenix on Monday.
Obama's motorcade passed by a large crowd of waving tourists who lined the roadway west of the park's main South Rim lodge area at midday. The family then toured an area known as Hermit Road, which has various lookout points, a rest area and a rocky but popular trail meant for experienced hikers.
